Meet The Team #9 – Clothilde

With Meet The Team, Draw Me A Pixel introduces you to the people behind its games. We promise, no one bites. At least not yet!

What is your job and can you describe your role within the team?

I‘m a Sound Designer. I create all the sounds needed for the game (apart from the music) and take care of their integration in FMOD and Unity. I also handle the mix of all the elements (sound effects, voice, music).

What was your background, before joining Draw Me A Pixel?

I did sound engineering studies that were pretty general and didn’t tackle video games, so I then specialized myself in this field. I was very lucky to find my first sound design job at Plane Toast where I did the sound design for Caravan SandWitch. It was quite an ambitious project for a first one! I also work with other studios (such as Swing Swing Submarine and The Pixel Hunt) on their upcoming game or demos.

What are the best and worst aspects of your job?

I love that I have to do very different things every day. Getting creative by creating the sounds, then thinking about how they will be playing, how I will integrate them in the code, and mixing them all together. I like the creative process as much as the technical one, and being the only sound designer is perfect for that.
The thing I like the less is how intense it can be to handle all the audio of a game by myself and how I have to be efficient in order to deliver my work in time

Which chapter from There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension is your favorite?

I think the first one because you discover what the game is going to be, alongside the humour that it carries. But I also loved the one with GiGi’s song !

There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension: This non-game will drive you nuts.

What are your favorite video games besides There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension?

Hard to answer that question! I really like the Zelda series, my favorite one is probably Twilight Princess on Wii. The Last of Us was also amazing to play and cry in front of. Risk of Rain 2, love that game ! I also might have a couple hours on Monster Hunter World… Lately I really enjoy Arc Raiders too.

How does it feel to finally be able to talk about Crushed In Time after all this time?

It’s really nice to talk about the game and see the excitement around it. I can not wait to see players having fun with it.

In Crushed In Time, Sherlock Holmes is probably the only one who can wait.
